For the sake of your mother, please listen to someone that knows what they are talking about.
As I stated in my prior answer, this piece is NOT a hummel. That is why you can’t find it in the hummel guides/searches. If you followed the link I provided last time you would know that Hummel figurines were created based on the artwork of sister M.I. Hummel, who drew images of children, not leprechauns, gnomes or other people under mushrooms!
Your reason for thinking it is a Hummel is because of the trademark incised on the underside of the base. As I explained in my last answer, this is a Goebel trademark. It is used on Hummels, but it is also used on other Goebel brands that are not Hummels. All you can tell from this mark is that it is made by Goebel and is pre-1950.
The incised V.X.35 is the model number for the figurine you have. I still haven’t found a reference to this number that helps definitively identify it but I am attaching links to 2 websites that provide (non-Hummel) Goebel figurines for sale. You will notice that these figurines all bear the Goebel trademarks even though they are not hummels. Some of the listed items have numbers starting with V.X.
Note also that Hummel and other Goebel model numbers are always incised on the bottom, not printed. The ’7′ on your figurine is not a model number. I have a merry wanderer with an incised 7.
Wow! I just read the answers to the last time you asked this and nobody said it wasn’t a goebel. lbgpaul’s first answer was perfectly clear to me. Why would you ask a question and then dismiss good information. I’m surprised he bothered to reply again – way more patience than me!
Anyway, if you don’t like the prior answer how about this one:
It’s a hummel called leprechaun rest time and it’s worth $1.
Happy now?
the first thing – this is not a question for the sculpture page. This is more of a collectibles or antiques question, just so you will know.
Second, what are the markings on the piece – is it signed or dated anywhere besides the crown?
I would take it to an antiquities dealer specializing in German porcelain figurines.
